Reconciling in Christ

We at Immanuel Lutheran welcome Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) persons into our fellowship and Eucharistic table with true equality and affirmation.

In 1984 Lutherans Concerned/North America started the Reconciling in Christ ("RIC") Program to recognize Lutheran congregations that welcome lesbian and gay believers. We at Immanuel were proud to became a RIC congregation in 1996.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is the national expression of the church and welcomes GLBT clergy.  In August 2009 the ELCA voted at its Church-wide Assembly to recognize committed same-sex relationships, and to welcome practicing LGBT clergy to serve in its congregations.  We celebrate the long awaited dawning of new a day in the ELCA!

Grace is for everyone or it isn’t grace. It’s that simple. It’s that amazing.

LGBT people are children of God whom God created as we are and whom God loves as God loves all creation. Therefore people of all sexual orientations are participate fully as members and lay leaders at all levels in our congregation. We need you to help us make Christianity consistent with the embracing love of Jesus, to help the churches move from a culture of denial to a culture of affirmation of all gifts, including your sexuality. All are welcome here

Here's my personal welcome to all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered and straight allies!

Reconciling in Christ

“Our belief that ALL Gods children are welcome in our congregation is not just a public relations statement, but that it is God’s will and God’s grace. It is true when we say: “Grace is for everyone, or it isn’t grace. It’s that simple, it’s that amazing!”
